Adventures in Wonderlondon I

Hey guys, sorry for the terrible lack of update. Spring break came and went, and once again, it is crunch time for Hairin and I. I have been so busy with this NYU fashion show (called ACE27) that I almost haven't found time to breathe. Anyways, here's some photos from my London trip. I didn't bring my camera so thanks to my beloved friend, YY, my amazing tour guide/host, who took these photos for me.

I'm a sucker for the beach. Few things make me happier than lying on a beach with clear blue water and white sand. And after an intense, and I mean INTENSE first half of the semester ( taking six classes had basically rendered me a walking zombie), the prospect of spending one week on the beach doing next to nothing was immensely appealing. So early Friday morning after a crazy, coffee-fueled past two weeks, three of my friends and I packed our bags and went off to Costa Rica. We mainly stayed at a condo in Los Suenos and our days were spent lazing by the beach, eating delicious guacamole and chips, hitting the gym, snorkeling, hiking, running, taking leisurely dips in the pool, the sea, the marina, anywhere with blue water, really. I strongly recommend the beach in the Manuel Antonio National Park as well as Lake Tortuguero, both of which were slices of paradise. The weather was gorgeous- hot and sunny, and I returned to New York feeling recharged like you wouldn't even believe it. I felt like I spent a month in Costa Rica instead of a week and I'm still running on a post vacation high. Looking back at these pictures, I can't believe I was there less than a week ago. -Hairin

I usually spend winter vacations with my family at the apartment in Portsea, off the coast of Melbourne in Australia. This year, we were there for a week a did plenty of lazing around by the beach, reading, swimming, cooking and eating. Sorrento, a a busier town next to Portsea has THE best fish and chips, in all its deep-fried, beer-battered glory and we also had the best strawberry sundae I've ever tasted. A highlight was also running in Point Napean Park, a 22km run along a stretch of road on cliffs which gloriously overlooked the sea. My parents and I went early in the morning, it was drizzling and the park was completely deserted. Running there, so close to nature, was close to being one of the best feelings in the world. With every breath I took, I could feel my lungs greedily fill itself with the fresh, slightly salty air and it was such a welcome change from the pollution I've gotten used to from living in the city. I've taken plenty of beach holidays but there's something about Australia's beach culture that makes the time we spend at Noose in Brisbane or Portsea in Melbourne top holidays to even Maldives and Bali. I only managed to take two full length outfits shots but every day was pretty much tees, cut-offs and tank dresses. Above are some snapshots of our time there.

We went to Hakone for a day tour around the mountains and it is just so wonderful to be there in summer. I just have to share some of the photos with you.

We took a boat ride on Lake Ashi which is a crater lake of Mt. Hakone. It was so amazing with the sunlight, the light, cool breeze, the blue-green peaceful waters, the luscious greenery. I realized at that point that it's so good to take a break from everything and just immerse oneself in nature and enjoy it. At this point, I am going to let the photos tell their stories. P.S.
